Since the U.S President Donald Trump declared his high intentions on acquiring Greenland from the Danish historical territory last year, the Danish population has been really alert and thought about it twice before choosing their destination for vacation.

Due to the current crisis, many travel agencies such as Jysk Rejsebureau or Kilroy have experienced a huge change in the habits of consumption of their customers. Although travelling to the United States of America has been in the holiday plans of many Danes for many years.

In an interview with Poul Langholz, the team manager in Kilroy Travel Agency Copenhagen, he revealed that Danish citizens are choosing other destinations instead of visiting the U.S.A right now. “Most of the people who used to go to the US want to explore Canada instead,” he explains.

Cancellations on already-booked trips

As a big consequence of Trump’s statement of intent of invading Greenland, Danes have opted to reverse their plans to visit the US. According to Langlohz, some clients were willing to change their flights and “pay extra just to go somewhere else”. As a response, Copenhagen’s travel agencies like his, Kilroy, have realised that “there's no reason to throw money into marketing for a country that people don't really want to go to.” Instead, they will save that money, and give people “an amazing experience” somewhere else.
