The national handball team wins the title against Germany after over a decade, celebrating their victory in Rådhuspladsen, Copenhagen on Monday evening.

The team was welcomed by the city mayor in Copenhagen City Hall and gathered on the balcony for celebration.

Pancakes with the Mayor is Tradition

Hundreds of people filled the square with danish flags, chanting and cheering when the players arrived.

The players were also offered City Hall pancakes, a tradition in Denmark when there is a special occasion celebrated.

Denmark has won the world championship four times in a row, and they won an Olympic gold in Paris in 2024. For the first time since 2012, they continue their success by winning the European Championship, having all three major titles at the same time.

Winning according to plan

‘It was as expected, I was sure they are going to win the match because we are the world champions.’ Klaus Christensen, a fan of the Danish team said.

He added that there is only one player, Rasmus Lauge Schmidt, who played last time Denmark won the European Championship in 2012 and it was also the first time for the coach, Nikolaj Bredahl Jacobsen, who has been the coach since 2017, emphasizing that it is a remarkable achievement.
